Our Founder
Nanette Kwong
Our founder Nanette Kwong began her career as a litigation lawyer. After graduating with a law degree from the University of Oxford in 1989, she spent the next 2 decades establishing a reputation as a well regarded litigator in Hong Kong.
After finishing her training and working as a junior litigation lawyer with Herbert Smith (now Herbert Smith Freehills) and subsequently Watson Farley & Williams in London, UK, Nanette returned home to Hong Kong where she initially worked as a shipping litigation lawyer at Sinclair Roche & Temperley. Two years later she joined the Hong Kong office of the international law firm Richards Butler (the legacy firm of Reed Smith in Hong Kong). In 1999, she was made a partner in the litigation department, specializing in commercial litigation, shareholders’ disputes and professional indemnity litigation. She co-headed one of three litigation teams at Richards Butler until she retired from private practice in December 2010.
Her second career, after obtaining a Master in Finance degree from the University of Hong Kong in 2013, leads her onto the center stage of the commercial world where she set up and managed her own companies with business interests in Hong Kong, UK and Canada, employing the skills and business acumen required for commercial businesses.
She understands the trials and tribulations of life as a lawyer, and the need to service clients at a speed and cost commensurate with that of other industries in the 21st century. In the autumn of 2021,to leverage her unique experience as a law firm partner, a legal practitioner servicing the needs of clients, and an international businesswoman, she set up Lex IT Limited in Vancouver, Canada. Her vision for LexIT is to make legal services easily and economically accessible with the use of technology. Her previous business experience with Canada is the catalyst for choosing Vancouver as the base of LexIT. The proximity to the home base of FAANG makes Vancouver one of the cradles of home grown IT talents in Canada. The mission of LexIT is to collaborate with these talents to bring legal services to the general public in a cost effective way by using innovative AI solutions.
Nanette is a member of the International Technology Law Association and the Law Society of Hong Kong.
